ZWO CAA ROTATOR

ZWO CAA ROTATOR is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
The ZWO Camera Angle Adjuster (CAA) allows to rotate your camera for perfectly framing your astrophotography target.
Most astronomical cameras have a rectangular shape and many astronomical objects have an elongated shape which require the camera to be rotated. With ZWO CAA it is now possible to quickly rotate your camera to perfectly frame the object that you want to capture.
Measuring 16.5mm in thickness, it replaces the standard ZWO adapter included with the ZWO cameras. It weighs only 465g and it allows a full 360° rotation.
The ZWO CAA has a resolution of 0.02° per step and its accuracy is better than 0.1°.
The high rigidity of the CAA prevents any flexure and its mechanism withstands torques up to 25cNm (0.25 Newton · meter). The ZWO CAA rotator has been tested by ZWO, proving it can operate with an ASI461 camera combined with the 7x50 filter wheel and 1kg of additional weight for a total of more than 4kg.
It rotates with a speed up to 7.5°/second allowing to change the framing by 180° in about 24 seconds.
The ZWO CAA is compatible with a wide range of telescopes and supports multiple imaging software and devices, including ASIAIR, ASIStudio and the ASCOM protocol. It also allows to be controlled manually via the compatible hand controller (not included with the standard package).
To be powered up and controlled, it only requires one USB-C cable. It can be manually controlled with the EAF hand controller.
The rotator can be locked using a hex key to be inserted in the locking slot. This feature is particularly useful to lock the rotator and remove jammed adapters or accessories.
Its 16.5mm optical thickness allows to achieve the typical 55mm backfocus when combined with ZWO cameras that have 17.5mm backfocus and 7x36mm, 5x2" and 7x2" ZWO filter wheels (adding 1mm spacers). The same backfocus distance can be achieved with the ZWO filter drawer or the 21mm extension.
The CAA is not directly compatible with off axis guiders unless adding a spacer between the CAA and the OAG which avoids the OAG camera holder to collide with the body of the rotator. To maintain the 55mm backfocus distance and, at the same time, guiding with the native focal length of our telescope, you can use the ASI2600MM-P DUO, the ASI2600MC-P DUO or the ASI 2600MC AIR which includes a guiding sensor next to the imaging sensor.
To install the ZWO CAA rotator:
- Screw the rotator directly on the M54 thread of your telescope
- Connect the M54 filter drawer, a 21mm extension or a filter wheel to the rotator
- Install your camera. If your camera has a M48 thread, use the M48 plate included with the ZWO CAA rotator.
