The Takahashi FSQ-85EDX is an apochromatic Petzval quadruplet astrograph with uncompromising performance for wide-field deep sky imaging. With two S-FPL53 ED elements, the highly air-spaced quadruplet lens cell provides exceptional correction with a 44mm image circle when paired with the included 1.01x field flattener.
The FSQ-85EDX has a focal length of 450mm covering 5.6 degrees of sky and a focal ratio of f/5.3, making it the ideal instrument for capturing large nebulae. With the optional Reducer-QE 0.73x focal reducer, the telescope is transformed into a truly high-end astronomical telephoto lens with a focal length of 372mm and a focal ratio of f/3.8, while maintaining the full 44mm image circle.
Note: The Reducer-QE has been discontinued.
The oversized rack and pinion focuser is smooth and accurate and features a 1:7 microfocuser. The included CAA camera angle adjuster allows for precise framing of your target. For serious imaging, the Prima Luce Lab Esatto 3" robotic microfocuser is compatible with the additional PL3600271 adapter.
Matching 95mm tube rings from Prima Luce Lab are also available, allowing you to take full advantage of their PLUS universal system for connecting a multitude of accessories.
Note: The OTA ONLY variant does not include tube rings or a dovetail bar. For the FSQ-85EDX, you can use the PrimaLuceLab 95mm PLUS tube rings in combination with the PrimaLuceLab 240mm Losmandy bar.
