ASKAR 203APO f/7 TRIPLET REFRACTOR

The Askar 203APO is an apochromatic air-spaced triplet refractor that offers high performance for a low price compared to other large 8" triplets on the market. The objective lens features an element of extra-low dispersion glass (ED) that minimizes chromatic aberration.

The Askar 203APO has a 20% larger effective aperture area than the 185APO, giving greater light-gathering power, resolution, brightness and contrast. Askar will soon release a dedicated field flattener and focal reducer for the 203APO, transforming it into a powerful astrograph ideal for imaging the solar system, galaxies, and planetary nebulae.

In its standard configuration the Askar 203APO is a high performance visual instrument with excellent optical quality and native compatibility with binoviewers when the rear section of the tube is retracted. This retractable rear tube features a rudder-type locking mechanism and is reinforced to ensure that the optical axis will not be affected with the tube is extended. With this section extended, the 203APO can be used with a regular diagonal and eyepiece. This design makes the 203APO a supremely versatile telescope.

The 3.5" dual-speed rack & pinion focuser is precise and rigid. It is natively compatible with most motorized focusers on the market including the ZWO EAF. The focuser includes an accurate distance scale with 10cm of travel. On the rear there is a 360 degree rotator with fine rotation angle markings for precise framing. The entire focuser barrel is CNC-machined with anti-reflective baffling and matte paint, minimizing stray light.

Unlike most refractors, the 203APO includes two finderscope bases on either side of the focuser, allowing you to attach both a standard guide scope and control unit such as the ASIAIR without the need for additional accessories. The handlebar also includes a finder-style slot, allowing for even more possibilities.

The entire tube of the 203APO is CNC-machined with anodized and surface sprayed coatings. The inner surfaces of the retractable dew shield are covered with matte felt and the interior of the telescope tube has matte paint and internal baffles, to reduce internal reflections and light scattering.
