The Baader Laser-Colli™ Mark III is an extremely accurate laser collimator for Newtonian and Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes. The housing is precision-machined and hard anodized and connects via a 1.25" barrel. The handle protector is made of silicone rubber to facilitate handling with gloves.

Collimation is essential to get the most out of your telescopes and this procedure need not be feared. Unlike cheaper collimators, the Baader Laser-Colli is precisely aligned with a mechanical lathe from the factory and does not need adjustment prior to use.

Furthermore, the reference plane indicator for the returning beam is made of clear glass with hundreds of etched crosses. This produces a much more concentrated dot and makes it easier to see if the optical system is just slightly out of alignment, unlike typical opaque, sanded reference planes from other brands. If your optics are severely misaligned, then the clear glass makes it possible to look through to see if the beam is grazing the edge of the focuser tube.

WARNING: Never ever look directly into a laser beam! Protect your eyes! Store the Laser-Colli carefully so that it cannot be reached by children or inexperienced adults. Consider that a heavily mis-aligned telescope will deflect the laser beam out of the tube in an unpredictable direction, possibly without you being aware of it.
