The Avalon EVO-Zero is a highly portable yet powerful equatorial mount, ideal for astrophotography on the go. Avalon's new compact belt drive system is a reliable and extremely accurate alternative to the increasingly popular strain wave-geared portable mounts.
The EVO-Zero is extremely compact with a weight of 4.6kg and small dimensions (28 x 21 x 11 cm) and is finely CNC-machined from a solid aluminium block and anodized. The mount has a payload of 13kg without the need for counterweights (a 1.4kg counterweight is included for difficult to balance setups).
No gears for incredible guided performance
The majority of telescope mounts employ a worm drive gear system. This system however may produce a poor guiding performance due to mechanical errors in gears such as periodic error, rough gear surfaces and a play between gears (backlash).
The EVO-Zero features an all belt-driven transmission system with special polymer fiberglass pulleys, high precision toothed belts and roller bearings. The EVO-Zero's HQ motors on both RA & DEC axes have an resolution of 0.1 arc seconds per step, giving very highly accurate guided tracking.
Dual Alt-Az/Equatorial configuration
Thanks to the latitude adjustment range of 0° to 90, the EVO-Zero can be used as both an Alt-Azimuth and Equatorial mount for visual as well as photographic use. For telescopes within the mount's payload capacity, it is only required to fix the telescope to the top clamp - no clutches needed!
StarGo control system with Wi-Fi
The mount is controlled by Avalon's StarGo control unit with ASCOM/INDI driver support for use with the most popular astronomical software. The mount can also be controlled via Wi-Fi with SkySafari Pro.
